The NCO has always endeavoured to take advantage of the wealth of musical talent in Canberra, with many of Canberra’s most prominent musicians, as well as highly talented young performers, playing with us in recent years.

We have a growing membership and our different sections have vacancies from time to time. The flute, oboe and clarinet sections are currently full but we are sometimes in need of extra players and have a backup list. Most players in these sections hold performance degrees so at least a diploma level standard is required. We are particularly interested to hear from bassoonists at this time.

If you are a proficient player of other orchestral instruments and are interested in joining the NCO, we would like to hear from you. We do not hold auditions, but the current suggested minimum standard for new players is 7th grade AMEB or equivalent.
